There was speculations roaming, the wait has been apparently over. World’s Largest E-Commerce, Shopping Website, Amazon.com is close to start its operations in India. The local branch of company, Amazon India has officially taken their Indian avatar online, with the name of ‘Junglee.com‘. That web site is yet in beta stage, but it is expected that it will soon get its final version, in months to come.
What is Junglee.com
At the moment, Amazon’s Junglee.com is not full-fledged shopping store. It is working currently. just as a price comparison site, helping consumers to take purchase decisions. Soon, it will start transaction, and will also launch its own marketplace soon, depends on FDI gets its appearance. If you are Amazon Shopper, you are well aware about their service and products, and Amazon products would be listed at Junglee in near future. But as of now, the products and price listed, but from the various partners including UniverCell, Gitanjali, HomeShop18, Fabindia, The Bombay Store, Bata India Ltd, Dabur Uveda, Reebok, Microsoft India Store etc., in addition to Amazon.com itself soon. The Junglee was acquired in 2000 by Amazon, from Indian enterprioners named Ashish Gupta and Rakesh Mathur.
What Junglee Offers?
The company stated they have 90 lakh books and o9ver 30 lakh products listed on Junglee.com, from more than 14,000 brands and companies from India. The site provides various products in 25 categories, which includes Camera, Mobile Phones, Games, Baby Toys, Books, Movies, Music, TV, Cloths, as well as Jewellery. Junglee has integrated all the major offline and online stores, into their single site. The transaction happens, actually on the retailers, like HomeShop18′s site, and Junglee doesn’t do transaction. The site integrates, the valuble info, reviews provided by consumers, and displays accordingly on the pages. This helps them to choose wisely while shopping.
According to the reports, Amazon had tried to acquire Flipkart.com also, but the deal failed due so some unclear reasons. If that deal could be successful, then scenario might be totally different. Apparently, Junglee.com would start listing, selling and transactions, but domain amazon.in is also exist [http://services.amazon.in/] for those who want to advertise on Junglee.com, but now Junglee has clearly entered into the wild. The launch of Junglee, is creating a lot of confusion, just because it doesn’t offers any thing. Lets see how Amazon India web site ‘Junglee’ performs in the ‘Jungle’ of Indian Online Shopping Web site. Currently, it is not the bell of danger, to Indian eCommerce site, at least in its current form. But it is subject of future, which we have to lookout. At least, some of lowest quality shopping sites would surely see them their decade (I would not state their name at the moment), but Amazon’s India arrival is not good for them. Did you liked ‘Junglee’ word? Its bit different for me, but Amazon brand awareness is enough for consumers to shop online.
