Mercury mTab – 3-core CPU Powered Tablet Launched in India

Kobian Group Company, Leading name in Computer Peripherals, Mercury has today announced the launch of Mercury mTab in India. With this launch, Mercury have forayed into newly competitive tablets market.

This tablet resembles the recently launched Beetel MagiQ and Reliance 3G Tab, that also launched at almost same price tag. But the Mercury tablet seems to be far ahead compared to Beetel and Reliance’s tablets in terms of processor and operating system. The Mercury mTab is powered by a 3-core processor running g at 1.2GHz along with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, 512MB RAM and 4GB inbuilt storage (supports up to 16GB) and also supports expandable memory of up to 32GB, whereas the Beetel MagiQ came with 1GHz Dual-Core Processor and Android 2.2 Froyo Operating System.

“We are not in the league to announce the cheapest tablet in the country, we believe in providing a strong quality product backed with features and applications that are required by today’s user. We promise an experience for all with a high performance display, ease of internet surfing, playing a huge range of games and it’s not heavy on your pocket.” said, Sushmita Das, country manager, India, Kobian.

The Mercury mTab is equipped with a 7-inch WVGA TFT LCD capacitive touch screen display and also packs 1.3 megapixel camera for video calls and to record videos. The tablet has 19.3cm X 11.7cm X 1.4cm dimensions and weighs 400 grams. Connectivity features includes 3G enabled and WiFi, HDMI output, Users have to use a 3G USB dongle to access the 3G service. The company will offer bundled add-on along with the sales package for free Internet. The mTab comes with a 4000mAh battery which is also higher than other tablets in similar price point, This battery is claimed to provide continuous video playback of up to four hours.

Mercury mTab will be available starting September first week across all retail stores in India for Price Rs. 9,499. The company will also announce other related details when it’ll hit stores next week. What’s your take? What you think? Do share with us in comments section below.
