Lenovo India has today introduced its new innovation, India’s first desktop PC integrated with the Rupee Symbol on keyboard, the Lenovo ThinkCentre M60e. This desktop is fully Microsoft compatible and launched after regulations for PC manufacturers from Govt. of India to make a new Rupee Symbol standard in all new PCs selling in India.
Announcing the launch of Lenovo ThinkCentre M60e, Rahul Agarwal, Executive Director – Commercial Business, Lenovo India commented “The Rupee symbol highlights India’s critical role in the global business landscape. Lenovo is proud to be one of the first PC players in India to launch Microsoft software compatible rupee ready keyboards. We are in the process of transitioning the entire product range to be rupee ready in the next few months.”
The company has today announced that Lenovo’s India and US Technical Teams worked with Microsoft to develop user-friendly software to enable the brand new ‘Rupee Symbol’ as mentioned in the guidelines issued by BIS (Bureau of Industry Standards). The company said the incorporate rupee symbol on keyboards will make easy for users to insert ‘Rupee Symbol’ in various Microsoft applications including Microsoft Excel’s spreadsheets, Microsoft Word documents etc. Especially this would be very useful for businesses and accounts firms such as banks.

The new ThinkCentre M60e is the latest addition to the company’s popular ‘ThinkCentre’ series of desktop PCs which offers Lenovo’s ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery backup that helps users to recover data at any time. The new desktop comes pre-loaded with Microsoft Windows 7 Operating System, and boasts powerful specifications and features. It will be available with different processors from Intel Celeron and up to Core2 Duo Processor with 3MB L2 cache along with Intel G41+ICH7 Chipsets, 1GB to 4GB DDR3 RAM, 7200RPM 250GB to 500GB Hard Disk Drives, and other standard connectivity features including One RJ45 Ethernet Network port and one Marvell Yukon 88E8057 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet controller.
Finally, the incorporation of the new ‘Rupee Symbol’ in the M60e’s keyboard is the way started by Lenovo for other manufacturers; though surely we’re going to see other companies will also launch Laptops and Desktops with ‘Rupee Symbol’ integrated on keyboard soon. Hence, the new ‘Rupee Symbol’ will help our ‘Indian Rupee’ to join the elite club of globally accepted currencies such as USD, Euro, Yen, etc. Hence, it’ll give unique identity to our great nation ‘India’ also.
