Apple Mac OS X 10.7 Lion Is Live! Features and System Requirements

Apple has today announced that eighth release of their Operating System, Mac OS X Lion has been released with more than 250 new features. The company has just announced that Mac OS X Lion is now available for download from the Mac App Store at for just $29.99 (Approx Rs. 1350). The new operating system has enhanced with latest features and enhancements.

Features and System RequirementsThe major new features in Mac OS X Lion includes Multi-Touch gestures, System-wide support for full screen apps, Mission Control to find everything running on the Mac, Mac App Store to find and download software, and many other features are integrated in the operating system. The latest version of Mac OS X also includes Launchpad for quick access to all the apps as well as Mail app is also completely redesigned. Apple is claiming that ‘Lion’ is the best version of the Mac OS X ever, its easy to upgrade as well as users can buy Lion with their iTunes account.

New features in Mac OS X Lion include:

  • Auto Save: This feature automatically saves documents while working, no need to  manually save the documents now.
  • Versions: This new features automatically records the history of documents after document has been created and enables users to browse, revert, copy and past from previous available version. Somewhat like WordPress ‘Revisions’ feature.
  • Resume: It enables automatic recovery of apps, where user has left them when he/she has restarted or quit and relaunch an app. Hence, your work will not lost.
  • AirDrop: This features automatically sets up a peer-to-peer wireless connection to another device fir quick and easy file transfer, saving user’s time and efforts.

Processor: Intel-based Mac with Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon Processor

RAM : 2GB

Hard Disk: 4GB free storage space (more recommended)

Mac OS X 10.7 Lion is available now as an upgrade to existing Mac OS X version 10.6.6 Snow Leopard for $29.99 (Approx Rs. 1350). Whereas Mac OS X Lion Server is also available for $49.99 (Approx Rs. 2250). The file size of this upgrade is about 4GB and it’ll be soon made available on a USB Drive through Apple Store at Price $69 (Approx Rs. 3100). The users who have purchased their Mac after June 6,2011 can upgrade to Mac OS X Lion for free of charge. Only, they’ve to request upgrade within 30 days of purchase. The customers are allowed to make a request for free  upgrade until August 19,2011.

    Windows already has "Previous Versions" feature for files
