MWC 2011: Acer ICONIA SMART – Android 2.3 Gingerbread Powered Phone Announced

Acer has announced its new smartphone/tablet, the Acer ICONIA SMART at Mobile World Congress 2011.

Acer ICONIA SMART is powered by latest Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread Operating System and powerful 1GHz Snapdragon processor. It boasts 4.8-inch wide touchscreen with a 21:9 aspect ratio with 1024 x 480 resolution, and also boasts 4 keys including Home, Search, Back, and Menu. The ICONIA is crafted with slightly curved shape design with full metal body.

The Acer ICONIA SMART is equipped with 8 megapixel main camera with LED flash, and 2 megapixel front facing camera. It also comes integrated with GPS, HDMI-out, DLNA, HSDPA 14.4, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR connectivity options. As ICONIA SMART is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, it features Android browser with multi-touch capability, Java script optimisation, Adobe Flash Player 10.1 support with support multiple page opening.

The Acer ICONIA SMART uses 21:9 LED edge-lit display screen, which delivers cinema like experience with super bright and vivid images. Entertainment is further enhanced by Dolby Mobile Technology for high quality sound, and the 6-axis motion sensing (Gyroscope + accelerometer) enhances the gaming capabilities. “100% Smartphone, 100% Tablet. Acer ICONIA SMART is expected to be hit market by May 1, 2011.
