MWC 2011: Motorola Pro Business Android Smartphone Announced

Motorola Mobility has today announced a smartphone targetted to corporate users, the Motorola Pro. It is showcased at Motorola Booth, MWC: Hall 8, Booth No.8A51 at Mobile World Congress 2011.

Motorola PRO is a Android based smartphone that delivers speed, convenience, security and productivity tools which are useful for business users. According to the Andrew Morley, vice president of marketing, international markets, Motorola Mobility, “Consumers above all need choice to meet the needs of work and play and Motorola PRO strengthens Motorola Mobility’s position as the leading provider of Android devices. We don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach. In addition, employees and IT departments have made it clear that they want other options and solutions and Motorola PRO meets this need.”

Motorola PRO smartphone is powered by 1GHz TI OMAP processor and based on Android 2.2 Froyo Operating System and equipped with 3.2-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen. It boasts QWERTY keypad for faster typing and also comes with pre-loaded QuickOffice and email support (Corporate Sync, Gmail, POP3/IMAP embedded, Push Email, Yahoo Mail). It has 2GB internal memory and support expandable memory upto 32 GB with microSD card. Apart from these features, Motorola Pro also boasts password protection on both device and memory card, SD card encryption, remote tracking and remote wipe functionality and  Remote VPN connectivity.

The Motorola Pro QWERTY candybar phone has a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and  dual LED flash, 8GB internal storage memory and memory can be expanded using microSD card. The Motorola Pro also supports Adobe Flash Player 10.1 on its full multi-touch display and also supports SD card encryption. Motorola also offers additional accessories including Motorola PRO desktop dock for convenient charging and other additional features  while docked, including a clock (with alarm), a local weather reading, and the ability to play music or a slide show. The Motorola PRO is equipped with full sized QWERTY Keyboard, which is not a good news for BlackBerry maker RIM. Motorola has not revealed availability and pricing details of the Motorola Pro aka Motorola Droid Pro (Motorola Pro is european version of Droid Pro), but said that it is coming in Europe.
